Santana Tickets

There are only a few musical groups in the history of entertainment that have experienced the level of sustained success that Santana has enjoyed. Over the course of four decades, the group has been setting the tone for Latin music in the United States and around the globe. Santana tickets have been a hot item since the band's performance at Woodstock in 1969, and since then the group has performed its Latin beats in front of sold out crowds around the globe.

Carlos Santana Blues Band

Santana was formed in 1967 in San Francisco by band-leader Carlos Santana. The group's musical styling is based upon the compositions and guitar performances of Carlos Santana, and has become a standard by which Latin and Latin fusion music are measured. When the group formed in 1967 it was known as the Carlos Santana Blues Band, and Santana tickets weren't exactly a top seller.

    Slow Beginnings for the Band

During those early years the band small venues and performed numerous auditions for promoters and record labels. It wasn't until the band performed at Woodstock in 1969 that it would gain national attention. Following the performance at Woodstock, the band's debut album (Santana) was released and would climb as high as number four on the US Billboard Hot 100. The single "Evil Ways" from that album would eventually become a top 10 single in the United States that year.

    Declining Sales and Popularity

Throughout much of the late-1960s and 1970s, Santana was a wildly popular band. The group released 10 albums following its debut album (Santana) and each was met with varying critical reception. While many of the albums from the early-1970s reached platinum status, the late-1970s saw Santana's albums reach only gold status. During much of this same time period, the band began experimenting with different sounds and musical styles while maintaining a strong Latin core.

Santana tickets began to decline in popularity during this period as the group's albums were met with less praise. In an unprecedented move, following poor album sales in 1985, the band would go on a seven year hiatus. During this time, Santana tickets became a non-existent commodity because the band not only stopped recording, but also stopped performing on the road.

    Shaking Things Up

It was not until 1998 that the group reunited and reemerged with a best-selling album, nine Grammy awards (and one Latin Grammy award), and its induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Following a successful reemergence, Santana began a decade long resurgence between 2002 and 2012 that saw the group's popularity skyrocket again, making Santana tickets a hot commodity once again.

In early 2013, Carlos Santana announced that the group was preparing to reunite the original band members who performed at Woodstock in 1969 for a tour. Neal Schon, Mike Shrieve, Mike Carabello, and Gregg Rolie were all prepared to perform alongside Carlos Santana for the group's reunion.
